November 4th of Thanks....

Today's thankfulness is similar to yesterday, except with different "characters".

I am thankful for:
  • Good food: tacos and cherry cream cheese pie (without the cherries, of course)
  • Good friends: our neighbor Jason and his daughter Belle came over for dinner.
  • and Fun: we ate, laughed and played Apples to Apples.

And another thing, I got to make dinner all alone with total peace and quite. It was just warm enough outside to have the windows open and there were no children making noise anywhere. I love- love- love my children, but a dinner making evening all to myself is RARE. Maddy went home with Bailey after school to play, and Ruby was napping. Yes, she is a bit sick, because why else would she be asleep during the day? Ruby thinks naps are unacceptable behavior.

And to top off the day, I was the big winner of the game, so how bad could it have been.

November 3rd Thankful-ness

I am thankful for the sunny sunshine warm weather we had today, and for being able to visit with my back yard neighbor, Jessica, and other neighbor friend, Candice, for a bit while Ru was at school. It was delightful. Although I didn't love it at first, I am so happy to live here. I have such good friends, who are all sorts of characters. Everyone needs friends, and I am blessed with many, many great ones. Probably because I am so awesome.

And humble.

PS also Happy Birthday to my brother Taylor, who ( or is it whom?), when he heard about all the ruckus Ruby was giving us when she was first born, told my Mom "Oh no, go get her (Hillary) a can of frosting" That's my Taylor, always making me laugh, even when things are most unfunny.

I super dooper love that guy.

November blessing/thankful a day...

My, far away, friend Alisa posts a blessing a day all the month of November on her blog. I'm pretty sure that's the best idea around so I'm gonna do it too. On a thankful side note, I am thankful and blessed that I got to live by Alisa and be her friend and love her, and her family. Max and I still haven't met a better family in all our years. For reals.

Sunday November 1: I am blessed and thankful for a husband who can admit when he is wrong. And always apologizes. He doesn't really have a wife that does that.

Monday November 2: I am thankful that I get to stay home all day today (and possible all week) to get our house back to it's normal self. I have three boxes that have been at the end of our bed for weeks, they need to be sorted and organized. They will be dealt with soon. I am also thankful for what is in those boxes, crafty stuff my Mom gave me for my Activity Day girls. Only too bad for her, because she just got called to the same calling in her ward. I already asked: she doesn't want them back.

This thankful thing could be a challenge, cuz I've already wanted to add about five "side thankful notes" onto each day and it is only day two.

See you tomorrow.

Pumpkin carving '09

What's that saying, "everyone loves a brown eyed Devil eyed girl"?....

with goopy hands.

Ruby was grossed out and intrigued, all at the same time, by the pumpkin goop.
Maddy was all business.

Mmmmmm, yummy.

Maddy's fingers were black because that is what Vampire Hairstylists do, silly.

? Don't ask, I just post them.

Ahhhh, a bat in our house....Or is it a cat, with wings?

What cute posers we are.

Life imitating art?

That Ruby's face above the cat pumpkin.

It's like you were right there with us.....without all the clean up.

THE end.

At our house, everyone helps with laundry...

Ruby did it.

Phew...I'm glad that's over.

I do our family's laundry on Thursdays, it takes me all day but then I'm done for the whole week. And just to let you know, I'm finished........with last weeks laundry.

Yippee............It's Tuesday.

(Except for now I have to put it away.)

Trunk-r-Treat....

I don't know if it's just a silly Utah thing, but last night was our wards Trunk or Treat. Basically everyone met at the parking lot of our church house and all the kids went from car to car trick or treating. Also, there were donuts and apple cider.

Maddy decided to be a Vampire Hairstylist this year. Actually, she decided to be that before last years Halloween was even finished. Ruby wanted to be about 5 different things, one being Maddys Vampire hairstylist assistant, but ended up dressing as a "Shiny Princess".

My friend has this super cool make-up stuff called "Snazaroo"* and my other friend painted the girls faces with it. We used a Red Crayola marker for lipstick. (hey- you use what you've got)

Maddy's hair was AWESOME (her word). We flat ironed it and then used some super dooper goo to spike it up and make it all "piecy". She thought her hair looked like Jasper from the Twilight movie, I think she looked much cuter than him. She didn't want the cheese ball plastic fangs (her words again) so we got her some "real" ones that we had to mold to her teeth. They were VERY scary.....and also plastic.

The Maddy girls were so excited because I put my actual mascara on them. On a side note, if you have never put mascara on little children before, you should. It's a very twitchy experience.

These pictures were AFTER the fun was over, so the faces are a but smudged but still cute.

You can't get the full effect here, but Ruby's eyelashes-they're HUGE and long and curly. To be honest, (and not at all braggy) they're amazing even without my spectacular mascara.

We had lots of fun, but now we're gearing up for the big actual Halloween day, and the day they dress-up at school. Good grief, Halloween is a production around here.

*If anyone is looking for a Christmas gift for us girls. Hint hint, poke poke, nudge nudge.

The end.
