First Day of school/ picture day 2011

Yes, I did send my children off to school. I just have a Tasmanian Daisy who keeps my sort of frazzled and mostly blogless.

Maddy on the first day of 6th grade. She has a WONDERFUL teacher names Mrs Rawle. Mrs Rawle enjoys Maddy, Maddy's super cute hair and totally appreciates her good student manners.

Ruby and her first day of First grade. Her teacher is Mrs Hogan (who was in our Payson ward when Ru was born) Mrs Hogan was requested by me because Ruby's kindergarten teacher was less then...... Mrs Hogan LOVES LOVES LOVES her kids, but doesn't love telling parents what is expected of their students. It annoys this parent a little. But we LOVE her none the less.

Maddy's school picture face. We didn't order any school pictures because we were planning (and we did -- yeah) on taking our own pictures (by the best friend Em) instead.

Ruby's school picture face. Never mind that her hair is COMPLETELY different now.

The Fifth grader and the Kindergardener.....

The Maddy started 5th grade last Tuesday (on Heed's birthday). She was NOT looking forward to having a BOY (gasp) teacher (with not ONE of her friends in her class) until we went to meet him Monday afternoon. He won her over by telling her he was color blind. She thinks that's the coolest. I'm pretty sure Mr Bailey is gonna get teased by her this year. I think he's up for it. He's pretty cool himself.

That "5" is for "5th grade-- Not cause she's 5 years old. Do you like her monstrous backpack? It's nearly as big as her.

I can't believe how OLD she is. 10 1/2 to be exact. Why do they grow up -- And get all sassy and teenagery so quick?

AND THE RUBY...Ruby started real actual school today. And before any of you comment about the character print shirt she's wearing...... I was outnumbered and overruled at Target (by ONE Miss RUBY Elizabeth--she's was very firm about her style). There was nothing I could do.

Her teacher is Miss Halter. I hope she's ready for Ru. Her life may never be the same. Heck, the whole school may never be the same. This morning when I went into her room all she said was "its my second day of school, yeah" Then went to work (with Maddy's unwanted help) finding just the right clothes to wear.

And here are the 2 walking to the bus stop, holding hands (awwwh). Not even looking back. (GRRR) What's a mother to do? Oh maybe, I'll have another one who won't leave me for another 5 or 6 years. That'll teach them.

This is the Mads. She was feeling crummy, tummy ache, tired and didn't even want a Cinnamon roll for breakfast (!), but I made her go to school anyway. Someone had to take Ru to her class. :) She called me at 11 am to say she was feeling worse. She looked worse. (She was better by 3pm) And the MEAN MEAN Mom that I am, wouldn't let her go to soccer.

Oh and since it's taken me 3 days to write this post, I found out yesterday that the bus drops little Ru off right exactly at our front door! How great is that?!
The end.

First day of pre-school...2009

Ruby started her new pre-school on Tuesday. Her first day was not as great as Maddy's first day, but she was almost as excited. Her school starts at 12:30 pm - she was ready to go (with backpack) by 9:00 am.

We switched pre-schools because I had heard great things about this school, lots of kids in our neighborhood were going to it, and I can carpool.

She loves school already. Yesterday she got to take a bag with 5 things in it that she loved. Of course Ruff Ruff was in there, also a glitter bouncy ball, a telescope made out of toilet paper rolls, some lip gloss and a ABC's workbook.

Presenting---The Coolest First Day of School.....ever....(2009)

It all started the day before with a mini manicures and pedicures with Shaunell and her girlies.

Maddy's pedies being pampered to pieces.

Shaunell's oldie girl Cetera- she's in 1st grade.

G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S. (it kinda hurt my brain to type that)

Shaunell and her youngest girlie "Wheeze" or "Aislyn" if you prefer.

Ruby cashing in on some pampering. (her fingers were half naked by bedtime)

All this fun was leading up to the LONG sleepless (by Maddy) night. And finally the super dooper first day of school........EXCITEMENT

This was the chosen outfit. Debuting the much anticipated "I wish I could wear these before school-skinny jeans" purchased from the thrift store and stowed away with the rest of the school clothes in the dreaded box under my bed.

Fourth GRADE (That's why she's holding up "4" fingers)

This was the first of 3 outfits tried on that morning. It lost but was worn today "the official SECOND and coolest day of school"

Just for reference -for a little later- you might want to notice the orange walls in Maddy's room.

The best first day of school breakfast ever....french toast with buttermilk syrup. Toast by Max, syrup by Mom.

Ua-ummmy.

And a "wait I have to rub your bean for good luck" just before she left for the school bus.

As soon as she she was off and RUNNING (seriously 25 minutes early) to the bus stop, Ruby and I started clearing out Maddy's room. So we could
surprise
paint
it
BLUE.

Picture by Ruby. The green by the light switch was a reject color....

And a picture by Mom. I could have blamed it on Ruby but I am a grown up. Except for that I don't think grown ups call themselves "grown up".

The real color. Sun shade by True Value.

Max and I hustled all day to paint -with a few bumps and reject edgers- so we could surprise Maddy.

She got home and kept telling us all about her day and we listened (really) and FINALLY she went to change out of her school clothes.

AND......

YELLING and JUMPING and YELLING some more: MY ROOM'S BLUE!!! MY ROOM'S BLUE!!!

Her favorite color in all the land.

Then, after all that fun hoopla, we went up to Grandma Smiths and dropped off the chillin's so Max and I could go to dinner for our 14 year anniversary. YEP we're old. I was in a bummer mood for some reason I don't know why (Max was very sweet about it). It was nice to go out and the food was good.

THE end.
