November 12 -13 Thankfulness

Perhaps I should be thankful for things on their actual day. But really, where's the fun in that?

ON November 12th I am was Thankful for: Girls night out.

I get together, once a month with a group of 11 other girls and we play "Bunko". Its a fun, relaxing time to see, and catch up with all of them. We take turns hosting "Bunko" night, I am thankful that I did my night in September and I am done hosting for over a year. My back yard neighbor, Natalie, hosted last night so I just had to walk through our yards. It was raining.

The main rule of Bunko: You DON'T miss Bunko.

The best part about Bunko: you always get a prize, you eat yummy food you didn't have to cook, there is always dessert, everyone is happy to see you and it's never about the game.

Today, November 13th (Friday) I am Thankful for: All the shoes we have. That may sound vain and snottish but we just watched the news and there's a school up in West Jordan that's in DIRE need of shoes for many of their students. One little girl wore flip-flops to school all week long, and when her teacher told her she needed to wear other shoes she said the only shoes she had were the ones she wore to church. The girls and Max and I have lots of shoes. We have more then enough, (I dare say we may have TOO many) and all that little girl had were flip-flops and Sunday shoes. If you wanna read the whole bit click here. I have LOADS of shoes that Maddy out grew last year when she went from a size 1 to a size 3.5. I wonder if I could find that schools address.

I am grateful that I can wear other shoes, besides flip-flops (even thought they're my first choice) in this yuck weather, and our children always have warm pigs.

Cabela's and a shoe problem...

This is Maddy. Maddy might have a shoe problem.

These are all the shoes she is getting rid of before school starts. They are all too small for her. She is devastated about the pink ones with the bow on the toe. My blood is boiling about the Heely's she asked for for Christmas and only used (with the wheels in) once.

She still has 10 pair of shoes, counting her boots and flip flops, in her closet.

We went to Cabela's. There is two things you must do when you go there. First, You HAVE to go shooting.

And second, you must buy fudge. We don't have pictures of the fudge.

It's gone.

Too bad.

I have a shoe problem...

I already thought this, but now it is official. Because Shan has confirmed it on her very blog on this very day.

I was cleaning out my closet the other day and decided to line up all my shoes in a row.

Lets make that, THREE rows. This picture is after I'd bagged up all the old and moldy ones I didn't feel I needed anymore.

See those blue shoes ^ right up there? I haven't worn them since before Elasta Girl was born. They are from France, and are blue swede, how can I possibly get rid of those?

Remember these lovelies? The ones that started all the bum toe nonsense?

well, these are their trashy younger sisters. They're new and I can't really walk in them for very long (no big deal) but they're hot pink and fabulous and I love them. Besides, floozies need love too.

I have a shoe problem. I even told Mr Smith (months ago) that all I wanted for my birthday (next month) were shoe shelves built in our closet. He grumbled and whined and said stuff like "can't we just buy some". I said stuff like "no, I want them a certain way and besides, I've already looked".

Then Shans friend's husband built some for his wife just because she wanted some. This world is not fair I tell you. Not fair at all.

I have a shoe problem. But I am not an addict.

The end.

Mailbox excitement...

What's better than real mail, I ask you? A surprise package addressed to me, that's what.

That's what I got on Saturday afternoon. We were all in the car headed off to the movie (The Tale of Despereux) with the girls, I ran quick to get the mail before we left. There were 2 post cards for the girls from the Aunt Tierney and a mysterious package addressed to me. My first thought (I get this from my mother) was that it was some kind of poison or a bomb. Being the daring and brave lady I am - opened it right up - and what was in it was not poison or a bomb, it was this teeny tiny shoe charm.

It was from my favorite sister-in-law* she sent it to me and wrote in side the package "now you can wear a cute shoe when ever you want". She's so great.

* "favorite sister-in-law" because she sent my the cutest surprise EVER. You all had better get crackin' if you wish for your ranks to improve. Brother-in-laws qualify. And friends, neighbors, parents, actual sisters and brothers and also strangers, if you promise not to send poison or bombs. I don't like those kind of surprises.

I know you all remember my cutest shoes ever that I can (barely) wear now.

I mean, how could you forget, right? My first 15 posts, and many of my Mother's were about my foot turmoil and these shoes. Well, this little charm is the spittin' image of my cutest shoes ever. Only much more comfy to wear.

Thank you, thank you my sis. I wanted to tell you last night when you called, but thought a whole blog post would be more fitting. Because you made my whole Saturday brighter. And a simple "phone thanks" wouldn't have cut it. I love you my sweets.
